With Italy's win over Argentina being sealed by Cristiana Girelli, the first matchday of Women's World Cup group games came to an end on Monday, with a number of Juventus players involved in Australia and New Zealand.

On the whole, the international Bianconere achieved positive results with a record of three wins and two draws.

Wins for Sweden and the Netherlands

Linda Sembrant and Lineth Beerensteyn, respectively, were celebrating wins in their opening games. Linda was a substitute as Sweden won late against South Africa, while Lineth played the majority of the game as the Netherlands won.

Sembrant's Sweden now sit on three points, level at the top of Group G with Milena Bertolini's Azzurre.

Beerensteyn played 87 minutes for the Dutch, coming off late on in their Group E win over Portugal.

Draws for Grosso and Peyraud-Magnin

Julia Grosso and Pauline Peyraud-Magnin went unbeaten with Canada and France, respectively. They both picked up a point.

Julia's Canada drew 0-0 against Nigeria in Group B, leaving both level in second after Australia took top spot by beating the Republic of Ireland in their home opener with a second-half penalty.

France and Pauline had the same result agianst Jamaica in Group F. They are joined in that group by Brazil and Panama.
