Sunday was a big day in the Women's World Cup. First, the Netherlands came out on top against South Africa to reach the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win, and one of our Bianconere left her mark on the game. Lineth Beerensteyn scored the second Dutch goal in the second half, sealing their progression.
Linda Sembrant and her Sweden then followed their fellow Europeans in advancing, and they did so in the most dramatic fashion. After 120 goalless minutes, their game against the United States went all the way to penalties and they edged their way into the quarter-finals.
The Netherlands will now play Spain on Friday and Sweden will take on Japan.
The Round of 16 isn't yet finished, though, and more Juventus players are still to play. Pauline Peyraud-Magnin and France will have to get the better of Morocco for their place in the last eight on Tuesday.
The other remaining last-16 matches are England vs Nigeria, Australia vs Denmark and Colombia vs Jamaica.
