Juventus Women claimed their third Serie A victory from as many games this season with a 3-0 win over Hellas Verona on Sunday afternoon at Vinovo.
The Bianconere came into the game on the back of two wins in the league already and having made history in the UEFA Champions League by qualifying for the first-ever Group Stage in the tournament.
It was a tightknit and physical opening 15 minutes of the game, which saw Zamanian involved in a clash of heads. Verona then found themselves breaking free on the counter which resulted in Aprile having to rush off her line and make a challenge at the feet of the opposition player in order to put to a half their play.
Bonansea then went on a great run just after the half-hour mark, she teed up Hurtig’s whose shot was blocked by the Verona stopper. Girelli was then denied by an excellent save from Keizer, before then breaking the deadlock in the 40th minute with her trademark header. The half ended with Hurtig nearly nabbing a second goal for Juve when her downward header was pushed out for a corner.
The towering Swede started the second half just how she ended the first, by threatening Verona’s goal, but Keizer was once again equal to the task. Meanwhile, Girelli was the one to make it 2-0 with her second header of the day, as she nodded home Cernoia’s corner kick.
Juventus Women put their result beyond a doubt in the 52nd minute when Hurtig threaded the ball into the box for an onrushing Cernoia, who tapped it home from point-blank range. The Bianconere continued to dominate play, and they nearly grabbed a fourth through Sofie Pedersen, whose shot smacked Caruso and allowed for the visitors to clear as they went on to claim all three points.
