Cristiano Ronaldo’s first half strike and Roger Ibanez’ own goal ensured a 2-0 victory for Juventus over Roma on Saturday evening at the Allianz Stadium!
RONALDO’S PERFECT PLACEMENT
Roma started off as the team causing trouble through the likes of Mkhitaryan and Veretout, but it was Juventus who took the lead in the 12th minute. Alex Sandro did well to keep the ball on the left, before playing it to Morata inside the box, the Spaniard then teed up Ronaldo up for the shot by playing it back, as the ball sailed perfectly into the bottom corner of the net. The Giallorossi were determined to find an immediate equalizer, and they nearly did so through Cristante’s blazing shot from inside the D that grazed just over the top corner. Ronaldo followed with a firing effort of his own, that rattled the crossbar and bounced to the underside of the bar before going out of play. The rhythm of the game drifted off in the latter stages of the half, but Ronaldo did get manage to get a dangerous shot away at goal, which saw Pau Lopez at full stretch to palm it away.
BIANCONERI 2-0, IBANEZ OG
The second half started off with an equally tame pace to it, Cuadrado and Kulusevski were brought on in place of Morata and McKennie. Szczesny was called into action in the 67th minute when Carles Perez let rip on the volley towards goal, which saw Szczesny smother. Juventus went 2-0 up moments later after a great attacking move saw Kulusevski pull back for Ronaldo inside the box, Roger Ibanez slid in to try and stop it, but in turn, pushed it into the back of his own net. Roma was the team dominating the possession, and they saw Spinazzola scuff his shot just wide, before another dangerous cross saw the ball narrowly graze over Dzeko’s head and sail past everyone at the back post. The final moments saw Juve ensure that nothing got past them, as they claimed a 2-0 home win.
