Coach Massimiliano Canzi, player and Player spoke to the press following Juventus Women First Team’s 3-2 win against Lazio on Matchday 12 of the Women’s Serie A.

MASSIMILIANO CANZI

“Certainly, the result is always important because in the end our goals are achieved by getting positive results. Having said that, it was a strange match that we risked drawing and, for a moment, even losing. We could and should have done better, especially defensively, managing the different moments of the match better. We probably could have gone into half-time with a lead, but that was not the case. The girls were good in the second half to take the match in the direction we wanted and I can't even even bemoan a lack of concentration after going 2-0 up. That didn't happen, simply Lazio, who I think are a very good team, made the most of the chances they had and got the game back on level terms. The Biancoceleste are an aggressive team, who deserve more points than they have, and there will be two tough matches ahead of us in the Coppa Italia. With the absence of [Estelle] Cascarino, [Lisa] Boattin will be able to slot in at left-back, being left-footed and very quick, but this does not mean that we will not utilise her further up the pitch. The same goes for Martina [Rosucci] who is dancing between midfield and defence because we are a bit short at the back at the moment, and I must congratulate her on today's performance because she played the whole match for the first time and she is still fresh off the back of returning from injury. We have several possible solutions, as I said we are a bit short because at the moment, in addition to [Cecilia] Salvai, we also have [Sara] Gama out, but we are not worried because we have several options.”

SOFIA CANTORE

“I am happy with the way my season is going and obviously how it’s going for the team, and today I am even happier to have scored goal number 700 in the history of Juventus Women. I don't know what has changed in me, for sure I can say that I am calmer and when I’m out on the pitch I try to have fun doing the thing I like most, which is playing football. The goal? In those situations you have very little time to think about how to finish the chance, so I instinctively controlled the ball with my heel and it was a useful play because it allowed me to carve out enough space to score. This victory is very important for us, we really wanted these three points. We knew we would be facing a strong team and that the match would be difficult. Lazio, in our opinion, have fewer points than they deserve, so we knew the quality of our opponents, we were not surprised by their strength and quality. We had two lapses in concentration, and that’s where their two goals came from. The level is high now and as soon as you lower the intensity a little you risk a lot. In my opinion we still have to improve on this aspect.”

BARBARA BONANSEA

“Of course scoring a goal in the 90th minute is always very exciting. Winning goals are always special, I'm happy to have scored and to have contributed to this victory that we really wanted. The last league titles were won by the team that did not make mistakes in the matches against the teams lower down in the standings. Top of the table clashes are important, but these matches also count for a lot. Today we faced a strong team like Lazio and we saw their quality for large parts of the match, so this success is very important for us.”
