The Copa America is now underway and last night there were three Juventus players involved in the opening fixtures. Kicking off the tournament was Brazil who took on Venezuela, with the competition hosts getting off to winning start. Marquinhos put the Selecao a goal up after 23 minutes to give them a half-time lead, before a Neymar penalty and a late Gabriel Barbosa effort gave them a convincing 3-0 victory. Danilo played the full 90 minutes in Brasilia, whilst Alex Sandro came on as a half-time substitute. Brazil will next be in action in the early hours of 18th June, when they face Peru in Rio de Janeiro.
Across the country, Colombia were in action in Cuiaba, taking on Ecuador. In what was a tight affair, the game was settled by a single goal, scored in the 42nd minute, courtesy of Edwin Cardona. Juan Cuadrado played the full match for Los Cafeteros, who will next play on 17th June versus Venezuela in Goiania.
Returning to Europe, yesterday Matthijs de Ligt's Netherlands made their Euro 2020 debut, with the defender currently out of action, but was of course close to his teammates, who won 3-2 over Ukraine. Today is the turn of Wojciech Szczesny, who's Poland side play Slovakia in St. Petersburg at 18:00 CEST, whilst Alvaro Morata's Spain face Sweden in Seville at 21:00 CEST.
