For Juventus, the 2023/2024 championship will start where the previous one ended: in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri's team men will meet Udinese on Sunday, 20 August at 20:45 CEST, so let's discover more about the city hosting our Bianconeri on their first stop of the new campaign.

UDINE, A CITY OF HISTORY AND ART

Udine, located in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeastern Italy, is a city rich in history, culture and natural beauty. With a population of around 100,000, Udine is an important political, economic and cultural centre.

Its history dates back to Roman times, but its most significant development occurred later, during the Middle Ages, when Udine became one of the main cities of the patriarchate of Aquileia. The city's historical center still retains numerous buildings from the medieval era, such as the majestic Piazza della Libertà [in the cover photo of the article], the monumental Town Hall of Udine, the Government Palace and the Clock Tower.

Udine is also famous for its museums, which help tell the story of the city. One of the most important is the Diocesan Museum and Tiepolo Galleries, dedicated to the works of Gianbattista Tiepolo, one of the greatest painters of the 18th century. Other important museums are the Udine Castle Museum, housed in an ancient medieval castle, the Friuli Ethnographic Museum, which exhibits objects related to local culture and traditions, and the Modern Art Gallery, which houses important contemporary works of art.

BREATHTAKING LANDSCAPES, AND MORE!

From art and history, to amazing views... Udine is also surrounded by natural landscapes of great beauty. Just a few kilometers from the city centre is the extraordinary region of the hills of Friuli, with its vineyards, castles and breathtaking landscapes, and for lovers of good wine, it is possible to visit several wineries to taste the famous local wines, such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Pinot Grigio.

Udine is also known for its cuisine that has its roots in the Friulian tradition. The local gastronomy offers a wide range of delicious dishes, such as the famous San Daniele ham, Montasio cheese, frico - cheese and potato omelettes - and the very special pumpkin gnocchi. In the city there are many restaurants where you can taste these delicacies.

UNIVERSITY CITY

Udine is also an important university city, with various faculties and research institutes. The presence of students gives the city a young and energetic atmosphere, adding life to the streets and public spaces.

In short, Udine is a city that offers a unique combination of history, culture, enchanting landscapes and the pleasure of everyday life. Visiting Udine means immersing yourself in an extraordinary cultural heritage while at the same time, enjoying all that modernity can offer.

All this, of course, in anticipation of Sunday evening's match at the Friuli Stadium.
