Juventus Women kicked off the defence of their Serie A crown in scintillating form. A 6-0 demolition of Serie B champions Como came through a Cristiana Girelli hat-trick, a double from Lineth Beerenstyn and one from Lisa Boattin.

The Bianconere proved just too strong for the newly promoted side at the Ferruccio stadium, taking the lead on just seven minutes from the penalty spot. Girelli's spot kick finish was one to remember for the forward...

Cristiana added two more, in 34' and 40', to complete a first-half hat-trick. From a tried and trusted Serie A scorer to a player making her debut in the Italian league, Beerensteyn, who enjoyed a night to remember. Not only did she set one up for Girelli, she added two of her own after the break, the first six minutes after the restart, the second four minutes from time. Getting the second half off to the best start, however, was Boattin after just two minutes.

Next up for the Bianconere, Inter on September 11th, which after tonight's debut can't come quickly enough.

POST-MATCH COMMENTS

JOE MONTEMURRO

"I have to congratulate the club and the management of Come for a wonderful evening to start Serie A, I wish them a good championship. Italian football is growing, foreign players are now interested in coming to play here because it is important for us to understand how to position ourselves in Europe. We have a large squad, which generates healthy competition. This season will be an adventure, we are happy to represent Italy in Europe and we hope to make everyone proud."

LINETH BEERENSTYEN

"I'm happy for the team's victory and for my first goals here at Juve, I'm really happy to be here, the team and the girls are fantastic. Finally the season has started, but now we have to continue. After the break, we face Inter, it will be an important match that will be great to play and that we have to win."

LISA BOATTIN

"I am happy with these six goals, it was important to score a lot today. We played a good match, for the first time as professionals, which is something that excites us, we have fought for this for many years so we want to enjoy this moment, which must be a point of departure. The captain's armband? Wearing it is an honour."
