Lina Hurtig’s goal wasn’t enough to secure victory, as the first-leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals ended 2-1 in favour of Roma at the Stadio Tre Fontane on Saturday afternoon.

It was a match which saw Juventus immediately having to chase the result, as Roma took the lead inside the second minute of action when Serturini fired home, making it the first goal conceded by Giuliani in 2021.

The Bianconere weren’t finding it easy to attack the final third, but they broke through in the 16th minute, which saw Sofie Pedersen’s shot flash across the face of goal. Boattin then went on an explosive run into the box but her final cross was closed out by the Roma defence.

Kicking off the second half was Bonansea in place of Maria Alves, and she made an immediate impact when she provided the assist for the equalizing goal: she rolled the ball across from the byline to Hurtig, who tapped it in.

Caruso and Cernoia were both denied in quick succession. Unfortunately, Bonansea’s stint was short-lived, as she had to be replaced after 15 minutes due to injury, seeing Zamanian come on in her place.

Andrea Staskova was introduced into the game in the 71st minute when Girelli had to be stretched off due to injury, before Sembrant then pulled off an excellent clearance off the line to keep the scoreline at 1-1.

Roma secured first-leg advantage in the 88th minute through Thomas, after she fired home on the rebound from Giuliani’s initial save.
