On 29 May 1985, at the ‘Heysel’ Stadium in Brussels, thirty-nine Juventus fans lost their lives as a result of serious riots that broke out in the stands and resulted in a tragic evening.
As every year, there will be a broad spectrum of acts of commemoration and moments of remembrance.
At 11:00 (CEST), the first moment of commemoration, at the Scalo Eventi Torino in at Strada della Continassa 28, with the inauguration of the work ‘Verso Altrove’. The Juventus delegation will be led by President Gianluca Ferrero, as well as the club’s official banner, which will be carried by the boys from our Youth Sector.
The club’s official banner will also be raised in Brussels, Belgium, at 15:30 (CEST) at the King Baudouin Stadium together with Gianluca Pessotto, Football Teams Staff Coordination Manager of Juventus.
In Turin, at 6pm (CEST), there will be a joint commemoration with city and regional authorities - together with the ‘Quelli di via Filadelfia’ association - at the ‘Italo Calvino’ civic library. The Juventus president, Gianluca Ferrero, will be present, as well as the club’s official banner.
In the evening, at 9pm (CEST), at the garden in via Galimberti, in Borgata San Giacomo, Grugliasco, another moment of remembrance will take place with the city authorities in collaboration with the Juventus Official Fan Club Grugliasco ‘Alessio Ferramosca & Riccardo Neri’.
As every year, as the evening arrives, the illumination of the Mole Antonelliana will bring the day of commemoration to a close, ensuring that what happened on that tragic evening forty years ago is never forgotten.
On the morning of Friday 30 May, at the Football Museum in Coverciano, an event entitled ‘Heysel: 40 years later. The value of memory' will take place. Whilst in the afternoon, there will be a presentation of the book by Luca Serafini 'The girl with the green trousers. Giusy, Juve, Heysel' in Castiglion Fiorentino.
Then on Sunday 1 June, in the morning in Reggio Emilia, at the Monument on Via Matteotti 2, there will be another moment of recollection organised by the committee ‘Per non dimenticare Heysel’ ('To remember Heysel') of Reggio Emilia.
On Saturday 7 June, one last moment of remembrance will take place in Veneto, in collaboration with the Juventus Official Fan Club Bassano del Grappa.
