After a hard-fought first-leg draw in the Women’s Champions League playoff round away at Wolfsburg, the Juventus Women’s Firs Team turn their attention back to the league, with Lazio visiting the Stadio Pozzo-La Marmora on Sunday.
Kick-off in the Serie A Women Matchday 14 fixture is fixed for 15:00 CET.
Ahead of the game, coach Massimiliano Canzi has given his thoughts.
TAKEAWAYS FROM GERMANY
“We know that we can take away the fact that we played, on an equal level, with a team of the highest level and with huge traditions, all in a knockout round of a competition of the highest level. So, that gives us a lot, but we still have that bit of anger for the goals conceded because there we just needed that tiny bit more to take a positive result home with us. But, still, we won’t change much for the reverse fixture in Turin and it’s a game we’ll approach knowing we need to win. If you go out to draw against teams of this level, you’ll never get the result you want. We’re disappointed with how the draw came about, but we wouldn’t have been disappointed to take home a draw when we went there.”
ANA CAPETA’S INSTANT IMPACT
“She scored and assisted in her first game, which are stats that speak for themselves. She’s a player whose characteristics perfectly fit here, and they’re things we were missing in the squad. She’s aggressive in an attacking sense, and she fits perfectly with the players we had here already. We’re very happy with her, and we knew that she was a good choice for us.”
GOOD LEAGUE FORM
“Looking at the results, we’re in a good run, and that applies to how we’ve been playing as well. We made a few changes to the setup and those are paying off, and beyond that we have the right spirit. It’s often said that teams with consistency win leagues, and we’ve had times when we haven’t had that, but we’re working precisely on that at the moment, looking to pick up points game after game.”
ON LAZIO
“This is our sixth game against them in two seasons, and each time we’ve played them it’s been tough. They are a really good team on an individual level, but they’re also really well organised and structured. Their coach is very good at match preparation. They’re four points behind us in the league, so they’re very close, and they’re having a good season. We know we’ll need to put in a really good performance and that it’ll be a tricky game.”
