As Juventus Women’s First Team head into the last four matches of the calendar year, two in the league and two in the Women's Champions League, here is what Coach Massimiliano Canzi had to say ahead of those matches.
“We’ve worked very well over the international break and made a detailed and personalised plan for the girls who remained with the squad, and it was really useful. The group has come back together well, they have all played for their national sides, they have all contributed in a positive way, so we are looking forward to the final push of 2024.
A WORD ON ESTELLE CASCARINO
“My admiration for her can be seen by the minutes she has played for my team so far: she is the player who has played the most. I feel great sympathy for what happened to her, perhaps in her best season in her career, as well as it being a very serious blow from a tactical point of view for all of us. However, I am sure that she has the mental and physical qualities to come back quickly and stronger than before, because these injuries are important steps in a career. We support her fully and look forward to her return.
A GOOD POSITION IN THE TABLE
“We are happy to be in this position in the standings, because from now on we have our destiny in our hands. It must be said that there are still many games to go before the end of the regular season and then there is the championship round, so anything can still happen, something extraordinary or heartbreaking. We remain focused, the girls are fully concentrated, those who have been here for so long have learnt from these last two very difficult years, the suffering was really useful to understand the importance of pulling together with the aim of achieving a better outcome. So far, we are doing it in the right way and the goal is to continue being consistent.
UNLUCKY LAZIO
“Tomorrow is a very tricky match, because Lazio have a league position that does not reflect their quality and the performances that their players have put in; they have missed some decisive penalties, for example, which would have put them much higher in the table.
THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE REMAINS IMPORTANT
“We have to play at our best in these matches, and not only to honour the competition, which is in any case fundamental for professionalism; there is also the seeding, which depends on the results we get and will perhaps allow us to draw different opponents next season: this year we were in the third pot in the draw, and it is clear that it makes everything more difficult.”
