Juventus have dealt successfully with the challenge of the Coppa Italia quarter-finals of the Italian Cup since the return of the one-match formula.

Most recently the Bianconeri welcomed Sassuolo. The outcome was decided by a last-minute defence-splitting run from Dušan Vlahović, whose shot was deflected into the net.

We turn the spotlight on the players that helped Juve overcome their last-8 opponents on their way to lifting the trophy.

Morata

LAST MINUTE

Alvaro Morata played a key role in Juve celebrating their Italian Cup success in 2015.

To reach the showpiece finale in Rome, it was the Spaniard that decided Parma-Juventus one minute from the end, just as Dušan did one year ago, thus avoiding the risks of extra-time and a penalty shoot-out.

Lichtsteiner

NO REMORSE

When he met his former club Lazio, Stephan Lichtsteiner often made the difference.

In the photo he can be seen celebrating a goal at the Olimpico in a Super Cup thrashing of the Bianconcelesti. The wing-backs shot decided the quarter-final of the Italian Cup in 2015-16.

The goal went down in history as the first episode in which goal-line technology was applied.

Pjanic Juve Milan

RIGHT APPROACH

The Coppa Italia of 2016-17 was the third consecutive victory by Massimiliano Allegri's Juve. The road to success passed via a showdown with Milan at the Allianz Stadium.

The Bianconeri's great start proved decisive. After just 21 minutes Paulo Dybala and Miralem Pjanic had already done the damage. Carlos Bacca's goal in the second half reduced the lead but Juve saw out the remainder of the match to win 2-1.

Juve Torino Douglas Costa

BRAGGING RIGHTS

Douglas Costa with an unstoppable left-foot effort followed up by Mario Mandzukić in the second half. The 2017-18 Juve-Toro derby decided who made it to the semi-finals. The Bianconeri thrived on the extra motivation to go on and conquer the Italian Cup once again.

Chiesa Juve Spal

GOAL GLUT

The quarter-final that would lead to the last Cup won, in 2020-21, was played against Spal, a team then in Serie B.

The match saw Juve hit the second-division side for four. In the first half, after Morata had converted from the spot, Gianluca Frabotta added a second.

After the interval, Dejan Kulusevski and Federico Chiesa added a goal each as the difference in quality became more evident the longer the match progressed.
