Juventus Women have gone six points clear at the top of the Serie A table following today’s 1st vs 2nd clash at Vinovo. The Bianconere ran out 4-0 winners to make it 15-straight league wins this season!
Rita Guarino’s girls got off to a first and aggressive start, creating their first chance after just seven minutes, as Cristiana Girelli headed Valentina Cernoia’s cross just wide of goal. Just a minute later and Juve were in-front! Tuija Hyyrynen’s cross from the right picked out Lina Hurtig, who headed the ball down to Barbara Bonansea to strike home the opener and the number 11’s 50th goal for Juventus Women!
Milan tried to battle back, pressing Juve high up the pitch but that would soon be their downfall for Juve’s second. A brilliant Bianconere counter-attack saw Bonansea play in Hurtig, and a great run saw the Swede keep her cool to finish past Maria Korenciova in the Milan goal to make it 2-0 before half an hour of play.
With two goals to the good at the half the Bianconere began the second period without taking their foot off the gas, as just five minutes in Hurtig went inches close with her left foot to scoring her second goal and the game’s third.
On 59 minutes, Milan had their first real chance of match, as Valentina Giacinti was slipped in one-and-one, but Laura Giuliani pulled off an outstanding save with her foot to deny the Milan captain.
Inside the final 10 minutes, a brilliant combination from second half substitutes saw Annahita Zamanian play in Andrea Staskova with a fantastic outside of the boot pass and the Czech forward fired in Juve’s third of the game to put it beyond all doubt.
Arianna Caruso came very close to making it four on 90 minutes if not for a great save from Korenciova. However, she wouldn’t be denied and into stoppage time an angled drive to a deflection off of a Milan defender and into the back of the net to make it four and round-off a truly exceptional afternoon for the Bianconere!
