Beyond being the final match of 2024 for the Juventus Women’s First Team, the Women’s Champions League Matchday 6 fixture at home to Valerenga will be remembered as a historic one, with Barbara Bonansea making her 200th appearance for the Bianconere as a starter.
In doing so, Barbara joins Arianna Caruso and Lisa Boattin and becomes just the third woman to hit a double century of appearances for the club.
Bonansea has been a pillar of the Juventus Women project since the very beginning, arriving in 2017 from Brescia and having grown up in Turin. Immediately, Barbara became a leader on and off the pitch for the club, and showed why she was already a star of Italian football by then.
Just last June she made her 100th appearance for the Italy Women’s National Team as well, and now she’s signing off for the year with another milestone. This latest achievement comes at a great time as well, given her impressive on-field form, having scored in each of her last three Serie A appearances.
In addition to the numerous trophies she has won with us over these past seven years - five Serie A titles, two Italian Cups, and three Italian Super Cups - Barbara was the scorer of Juventus Women’s first-ever Serie A goal on 30 September 2017 (against Mozzanica), and of the first two in the Women’s Champions League (both in a 2-2 draw with Brondby on 12 September, 2018).
A symbol since day one, and an example to follow still now, 200 appearances later.
Congratulations, Barbara!
