Alex Sandro struck twice and Matthijs de Ligt got on the scoresheet too as Juventus claimed a 3-1 victory against Parma on Wednesday evening at the Allianz Stadium.
BRUGMAN SCORES UNSTOPPABLE FREE-KICK
Juventus started off the stronger of the two sides, applying the pressure from the get-go. Their pressure on the Parma backline meant that goalkeeper Colombi was kept busy, as he pulled off a series on Cuadrado, Alex Sandro and Cristiano Ronaldo. Pellè created Parma’s first chance of the game when his header went just wide of goal in the 11th minute. The visitors would land up taking the lead in the 25th minute when Brugman’s free-kick flew over the wall and past Buffon in what was an unstoppable set-piece. Dybala nearly grabbed the equalizer minutes later with his strike from distance that sailed narrowly over the goalframe.
ALEX SANDRO RESPONDS WITH A BRACE!
Juve were putting the pressure again on Parma and Bonucci threatened with a glancing header from Alex Sandro’s cross that sailed just wide of the back post. The Bianconeri got their equalizer just minutes before the break when Alex Sandro brilliantly controlled the ball and unleashed an unstoppable left-footed volley into the back of the net. The Brazilian was proving to be in fine form, and he started the second half in the same manner with which he ended the first, with a goal! Cuadrado floated in a cross from the right to Alex Sandro, who was left unmarked at the back post, and he nodded it in from a yard out.
DE LIGT HEADER MAKES IT 3-1
Parma nearly found a second goal themselves in the 64th minute when a dangerous header by Pezzella sailed towards goal, only to be cleared off the line by an Arthur header. Regardless of the visitors’ efforts, Juve were the ones who proved to be stronger on the night and as they grabbed a third goal four minutes later through Cuadrado’s corner kick which was turned in by de Ligt’s header. Colombi’s right foot denied the Bianconeri of a fourth goal when he toe-poked away Dybala’s effort, before Buffon was then called into action when he fingertipped Karamoah’s glancing header over the bar. The remainder of the game would play out with neither side adding a goal to their tally, as Juventus secured the three points.
